My personal project is closely connected to two of my passions: historical reenactment and headshot photography.
Professionally, I photograph people’s faces. In my free time, I recreate and explore the realities of the early medieval era. This project brings those two worlds together by documenting the people who take part in one of the largest Slavic and Viking festivals in the world, held every year on the island of Wolin in Poland.
In this photograph, you can see the helmsman of a viking ship, gazing out over the open water as he waits to set off on another voyage.
I took this photo with Fujifilm X-H1 with 90mm f/2 lens (135mm).
