My personal project is closely connected to two of my passions: historical reenactment and headshot photography.
Professionally, I photograph people’s faces. In my free time, I recreate and explore the realities of the early Middle Ages. This project brings those two worlds together by documenting the people who live 1000 years ago in present days.
At this photo, I wanted to capture a panoramic view of the Slav and Viking festival on Wolin island. Viking boats sail across the Dziwna Strait, while birds circle above an early medieval trading settlement recreated in the present day.
I took the photograph from the bridge leading onto the island, using a Fujifilm X-H1 paired with a vintage Canon nFD 50mm f/1.4 lens.
