While exploring the historic streets of Lisbon, Portugal, I was struck by the piercing gaze of a woman seeking help on the sidewalk. Her striking eyes and the quiet intensity of her expression immediately brought to mind Steve McCurry’s iconic "Afghan Girl" portrait. Moving beyond the role of a passive observer, I connected with her, offering support in exchange for permission to capture this moment. This portrait represents the core of my personal work: pausing to see the profound human stories that exist right in front of us, independent of any client brief or commercial agenda.
