This shoot came up suddenly last week. He's a guy I went to highschool with and has been doing tattoos for the last 20 years. He was doing a real estate showing and playing guitar while he waits. It seemed like an interesting change of career so I reached out to him about doing some photos. He said he has access to this old house and we went with it. Imagine the adams family if they just abandoned it decades ago. I picked a room without too much junk and has window light and just started chatting while I started shooting. I didn't direct him much at all. I just let him be him. I find out he's finishing up a country album so I think of this as a potential album cover. I shot with his back to the window but as the sun came down I moved him facing the light. I love the shadow of leaves on the guitar and a little light on his face while leaving the room pretty dark and mysterious. After posting the photos someone said he looked like a serial killer. I guess he looks scary.
This is natural light shot with a Nikon D500 - 17-55 2.8. I did some basic processing giving it more detail in the background and a little more dramatic tones. I wanted him to stand out highlighted by the sun.
