Accessories to Bring Into the Field for Wildlife Photography

Sometimes you don’t realize what awesome little photography accessories you’re missing until someone points it out for you.

In this video, Wildlife Photographer Steve Perry of Backcountry Gallery shares eight really helpful products he brings with him to shoot in nature. Unless you make a habit of lurking the back pages of photo gear catalogs, a few of these are probably things you may have not known existed. It was only a couple months ago when I learned that collapsable, travel-friendly lens hoods were a thing and wrote a comparison review, but sure enough Perry is on top of it and has this and others covered in the video above (P.S. buy the AquaTech, not the LensCoat). A bonus with these suggestions is that most are fairly inexpensive and would probably see use nearly every day; kind of surprising for things you didn’t know you needed just a minute ago.

What other camera accessories do you not leave the home without when photographing in the great outdoors? I’m not nearly as good at this game as Perry is, but something I’ve wanted to try out is the NatureScapes Skimmer Ground Pod with my Wimberley head. Let us know your prized accessories in the comments below.
