Beautiful Sharpness: A Long-Term Review of the Sony Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA Lens

Zeiss lenses are well known for being very sharp with excellent contrast, and the Sony Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA (Zeiss design) is no exception. If you are looking for a 50mm lens, check out this great long-term review.

Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this great video takes a long-term look at the Sony Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA lens. I had the pleasure of using the 50mm f/1.4 when I reviewed the Sony a7 III, and it was by far one of my favorite lenses I have shot with. It produced such clean, crisp images that it was addictive to shoot. While it is certainly on the pricier side of 50mm lenses, you get immense quality with that investment. This particular lens comes with 12 elements in 9 groups, T* anti-reflective coatings for decreased reflections and increased contrast, one Advanced Aspherical and one aspherical element for reduced spherical aberrations and coma and increased sharpness, one extra-low dispersion element for reduced chromatic aberration, a ring drive Super Sonic wave motor, de-clickable aperture, dust- and moisture-sealing, and rounded eleven-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh. Altogether, it is quite an impressive lens; check out the video above for Abbott's full thoughts.
