The 'Big Whites' Are Coming: Canon’s New Super-Telephoto Lenses [Rumor]

The basis for many photographers choosing Canon has always been their lens lineup, and that line up should be growing even larger very soon. The drool-worthy, professional red ring "L" series super-telephoto lenses from Canon are getting some upgrades. 

Photokina is one of the largest photography-centric exhibitions every year, and it's just around the corner (September 26-29, 2018). Canon may be using the opportunity to announce not one but two new “big white” super-telephoto primes at the four-day conference and expo. As announced by Canon Rumors, there are two lenses that are looking to be released, and they will be version III lenses. The possibilities that fit this are either the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM, the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM, the EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM, or lastly the EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM. Previously, these lenses were released in two groups, with the 500mm and 600mm being released in May 2011 and the 300mm and 400mm being released in August 2011. 

The expected updates to the lenses seem to be bringing the entire range in line with consistent lens coatings and colors, while there will hopefully be a weight reduction as well.
