Cheap Quality: A Review of the Viltrox PFU RBMH 85mm f/1.8 STM Lens

The wide-aperture 85mm lens is one of the most classic and versatile pieces of glass any photographer can own, but they are not always the cheapest. However, the Viltrox PFU RBMH 85mm f/1.8 STM is a highly affordable option for mirrorless shooters, and it even comes with autofocus. This great review takes a look at this lens to help you decide if it is the right choice for you.

Coming to you from Wes Perry, this excellent review takes a look at the highly affordable Viltrox PFU RBMH 85mm f/1.8 STM lens for mirrorless cameras. Quality wide-aperture 85mm lenses tend to be pricey, but the Viltrox comes in at an impressive $339, undercutting Sony's own 85mm f/1.8 by almost half. The lens design includes an extra-low dispersion element for reducing chromatic aberration and increased sharpness, as well as an HD Nano multi-layer coating for reduced flare and ghosting and a double linear autofocus motor. Altogether, this makes it a very intriguing option for any mirrorless photographers looking for a highly affordable lens for portraiture work or even for a backup they can toss in their bag just in case. Check out the video above for Perry's full thoughts on the lens.

crop sensor e and x mount only....

Nope, this is actually a full frame lens. It has a bit of vignetting for sure, but not a crazy amount. Probably not much vignetting at all when used on x mount.

Decent lens for 300 bucks, it flares though if you point it near the sun.

Apparently this is now an F1.6 through a software update! Any chance you could show this update and review with the new setting, thanks

I haven't had a chance to try it just yet (been busy with the AD300 Pro), but I will soon!
