How Does the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Compare to Both Sony 70-200mm Lenses?

The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD lens is the final entry into the company's trinity of f/2.8 zoom lens, and like the 28-75mm f/2.8 and 17-28mm f/2.8, it is quite a bit cheaper than similar first party lenses. If you are wondering how it compares to the more expensive options, check out this great comparison with the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/4.

Coming to you from Dan Watson, this great video compares the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD to the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS and Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS lenses. Both the Sony lenses are highly regarded, but also rather expensive; in fact, the Tamron f/2.8 is actually cheaper than not just the Sony f/2.8, but the f/4 as well. Tamron's 28-75mm f/2.8 has been wildly popular, and in my time with that lens, I can also say that I have thoroughly enjoyed how portable it is in combination with its price and image quality. Certainly, if the 70-180mm offers a similar price-to-performance ratio, it will be a hit as well. Check out the video above for Watson's full thoughts on all three lenses.
