A Look at Wandrd’s Expanded Accessory Line for the Rogue Sling Bags

If you’ve ever been out exploring a place, especially one that has a lot of interesting subjects, you would know how having an organized and efficient bag can impact your output. These new accessories for the WANDRD ROGUE bags offer to take the user experience to a whole new level.

Sling bags are always the most efficient kind of bags to use when shooting on the go and exploring a new location. Being able to easily reach for your gear, change lenses, and even get quick access to small tools can make a difference in how we shoot and what we end up being able to photograph.

The WANDRD ROGUE camera sling bag has been one of the popular options for sling bags around, and this is especially true for those who are looking for bags that can withstand exposure to dust and rain. WANDRD’s bags make use of a durable tarpaulin material that is, to a great extent, impenetrable to rain, moisture, and dust. That makes it a bag that is ideal for exploring cities in unfavorable weather or even out in nature where you can’t really predict what you’ll have to endure.

The ROGUE sling bags are best known for their comfortable and breathable rear panels and straps while having a main compartment that is highly protective of the gear inside. Aside from that, there’s also a top accessory pouch on the main flap of the bag, a rear compartment for tablets or other thin objects, and an expandable rear compartment that can take in up to a 16-inch laptop with the use of a dedicated padded sleeve. The second version of the ROGUE sling also comes with bilateral mesh pockets that are great for quick access to small items or even a small water bottle. At the bottom is a pair of standard accessory straps that reinforce the tube/sleeve that can be used to carry small tripods, water bottles, or even rolled-up pieces of clothing. We reviewed this bag previously in a more thorough way. However, for this instance, let’s talk about the new accessories that offer to improve your user experience with this bag.

1. The ROGUE Rainfly

While we did say that the tarpaulin material makes the bag highly impenetrable to rain, you can never be too sure and can never go too far when it comes to protecting your bag. The new ROGUE Rainfly comes in the 4L size as well as a larger option that fits both the 6L and 9L variants. Out of the box, it comes in a small and light reversible pouch that unfolds to reveal a thin but water-repellent sheet that encases the bag when installed. However, since the larger size was made for both the 6L and 9L versions, it seems that using it on the 9L bag when it is quite packed can make it a bit hard to install. At the same time, the rear part of the bag, which is the part that isn’t made of the tarpaulin material, is still technically exposed, especially if it is not being worn in a snug fit against your back. Most likely, the foam mesh will get wet and will need some time to dry, but the internal compartment will most likely remain safe and dry.

2. Tech Panel

The Tech Panel comes in two sizes. The small version was made for the rear compartment of the ROGUE sling bags (assuming that it’s not being used with a thick laptop), and the large version was made to be used with the PRVKE backpacks’ front pocket. This particular one for the ROGUE sling has a relatively large flex pocket on one side that can be used to hold larger accessories, while the other side has flex loops that can be used to hold thinner objects such as chargers, power banks, cables, portable drives, and card readers. This thin panel fits right into the rear compartment, which makes it more organized for small items, especially if no tablet or laptop is being held inside.

3. The ROGUE Accessory Pocket

The first version of the ROGUE sling camera bags had a front zippered pocket for quick access to small accessories. This was removed when version 2 came, and the only other options would be the inner pocket within the top flap or the two flex pockets on the side. This new ROGUE Accessory Pocket allows users to have that front zippered pocket once again by attaching it through the side loops. This pocket can easily hold passports, wallets, SD card cases, and even spare batteries. However, since this is an extra pocket, it doesn’t have any protective padding and would also be more exposed to moisture.

Then again, the rainfly is the solution for that in case the user ends up getting both of them.

4. Premium Accessory Straps

The WANDRD ROGUE sling bags automatically come with fixed accessory loops on both sides of the bag connected to the top handle. At the same time, there are two accessory straps at the bottom that can be used for additional accessories as big as a travel tripod. However, I personally don’t prefer using the straps at the bottom because that would mean that anything I attach would deform the bottom surface of the bag and prevent it from standing upright if I set it down on a flat surface. I do recognize that this is probably a preference-based matter, but it is good to know that there is now an alternative way to carry extra stuff.

The Premium Accessory Straps connect through metal hooks onto the side loops of the bag. These straps, much like the accessory straps for the PRVKE backpacks, come with a magnetic buckle that makes it easy to unlock the straps while still making it foolproof from accidental opening. Once the straps are attached on both sides of the bag, the user can easily adjust the length of the straps to be able to have a good hold on whatever will be attached to the bag’s exterior. As mentioned, this can be an alternative way to hold a travel tripod, a large water bottle, or even just to fasten extra accessories that come with hooks, loops, or a carabiner.

These new accessories tailored for the WANDRD ROGUE bags have the goal of making carrying additional tools more convenient and still organized. With the right combination of accessories, these can greatly improve your travel experience and even directly lead to photographing better scenes because the carrying aspect does not get in the way.
