More Canon Cameras Are Coming in 2022

Canon started out slowly in the mirrorless space, but they exploded forward with the release of the EOS R5 and RF 28-70mm f/2L USM, showing they could go toe to toe in specs and that they had no intention of relinquishing their crown for creating some of the most extreme and innovative lenses. It looks like the company won't be letting off the gas, with more cameras likely to come later this year.

Canon Rumors is reporting that Canon is likely readying three new RF mount bodies for release later this year. The two most notable rumored bodies include an APS-C option and a new entry-level full frame camera, possibly without an EVF. The 7D series was highly popular with professionals and advanced amateurs alike, especially as it combined advanced autofocus and burst speeds with the extra reach of a crop sensor. Frankly, I am a bit surprised that Canon's mirrorless line has matured as much as it has so far and we haven't seen an APS-C body yet. Of course, that is not to say that this one will necessarily fill the same niche as the 7D series did, but I have no doubt that no matter the role, it will likely be a popular camera. Beyond that, it is nice to see Canon continuing to pay attention to keeping the low end of the RF lineup up to date. In between sub-$1,000 full frame cameras and the ability to seamlessly adapt EF lenses, the barrier to entry for shooting mirrorless is impressively low, and the company's commitment to keeping that end of the lineup modernized is certainly nice to see. The new bodies are expected in the second half of this year.

In my wildest dreams I would never have guessed that Canon (a camera manufacturer) would release new models in 2022. Once in a lifetime opportunity here folks.... get in line...
