Canon has had their foot firmly planted on the gas when it comes to RF lenses, releasing many in a short few years and pushing the boundaries of design with some remarkably capable options. And while 2023 is coming to a close, it seems the company is not yet done, with more lenses likely to come in the next few months.
Canon Rumors is reporting that Canon is likely to announce another three lenses before the end of the year, including two RF-S lenses and another RF L series lens. The company has put a lot of effort into its RF-S lenses and cameras in the last year or two, building out a much more affordable alternative to the full frame RF options, so it is not surprising to hear they are continuing to focus attention there. When it comes to the RF L series lens, while there is not much information at the moment, if I had to guess, I would suspect we will see something like a 24mm f/1.4 or 35mm f/1.4, as there are no wide angle L series primes in the RF lineup, and those tended to be some of the most sought-after lenses in the EF mount DSLR days. Hopefully, we will see more soon!
I would love to see a wide angle 1.4 L series lens.
