Panasonic started its full-frame mirrorless game with the S series bodies. In this review, you’ll see whether Lumix S1 is good for video shooters or not.
Panasonic entered the full-frame mirrorless camera market with Lumix S1 and S1R. Both models have lots in common; design, weather-sealing, 225 AF areas, face detection, 5-axis in body stabilization, and of course dual card slots. However, two cameras differ when it comes to video bit depth, video recording limitation, ISO sensitivity, and sensor resolution.
At first glance, the high resolution of S1R makes it more photo-oriented camera. Despite its relatively lower resolution, the Lumix S1 can shoot in 10-bit in addition to 4K 60p @150Mbps video capability that is common in both models. Also, the ISO on the S1 can go up to ISO 204,800, while S1R is limited by ISO 51,200. Like the Sony mirrorless cameras, the R model in Panasonic might be a better choice for users who mainly use their cameras for photography.
In this video, Jeven Dovey reviews the Lumix S1’s overall video capabilities and shares his thoughts whether it’s a better choice over Panasonic GH5. If you are after a new camera body for mainly video, then this review might help you.
