This Portable, Wireless Smoke Machine Can Help Give Your Photos an Edge

Being portable and wireless are two great qualities in any photographic equipment. And that’s exactly the criteria this new handheld smoke machine fits into.

Appropriately titled the MicroFogger, this handy piece of gear lets you produce fog on a small scale, especially great if space and budget are an issue.

The WorkshopScience website, which is currently selling the product, reads:

The MicroFogger is the world’s most versatile special effects fog solution. It can produce a vast amount of non-toxic fog and is extremely portable. It can easily fit into your pocket, which makes it ideal in situations where space is limited.

Photographer Mathieu Stern, known for his experiments, has been taking portraits to trial the machine. Fusing colour gels with the smoke, he created the below images and reviewed it for his YouTube channel.

The MicroFogger is powered through an internal battery and doesn’t require a cable and external power source. It can pump fog out continuously for up to 45 minutes. Intermittent use should mean having enough power to complete a shoot without requiring a recharge. Charging takes place via a USB port. The power and intensity can also be adjusted.

It currently retails for £80 ($104) plus shipping and is available through the WorkshopScience store.

Been looking for one of these for some while. The Rosco machine I have is great for a set, not so great, in fact useless, for the odd tabletop studio job.
Looks like an E-cig in a 3d printed housing..

I was just thinking, ask a friend to come over for the shoot who vapes. and will save you the cost of the machine. LOL

But then you’d have to have a douche who vapes on your set.

Very kool

.

Wait up! This is just an e-cigarette with a micro fan inside...why didn't I had this idea first?! Turn my Vaporesso Cascade into a smoke machine, add some CBD to make the clients more comfortable :P
Even the way this thing powers on and off is the same as my e-cigar LOL
Still, could make a bit more smoke, maybe adapt a larger fan and a Mesh Resistor.

Nice, and portable. But probably not enough smoke to us in a forest scene. Anyone who knows a "forest"portable smoke machine available in the EU?

Yeah it’s called a book of matches. But you gotta shoot fast and have an exit strategy.

As someone who has one and has used it, I can say it is a great little product, although mostly suited to indoors, it just does not have the power for outdoors, unless its in a protected area, and even then it is challenging. I bought mine to use in Venice, and the place I used it was fairly protected, but the volume just was not there. Indoors it will work pretty well. So as long as you do not have huge expectations it will be great. For the price its a great little product, and can recommend it as long as you know it has limitations.
