A Review of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens

The 24-70mm f/2.8 lens is the workhorse of choice for quite a few photographers, but most such lenses come at a hefty price for the quality and consistent performance demanded by professionals. The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art offers an alternative to its higher-priced competitors. Is it right for you? This great video review will answer that for you.

Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this helpful video takes a comprehensive look at the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art lens. 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses are the choice of a wide range of photographers, as they offer a highly useful focal length range coupled with a reasonable maximum aperture. However, they often come at a price, with most choices hovering around the $2,000 mark (for example, the Sony version currently sits at $2,198). On the other hand, the Sigma version is exactly half the price of the Sony version, making it a very intriguing option, particularly if it can hold up to the Art series' typical reputation of excellent image quality. Users also get the benefit of Sony's in-body image stabilization, making it all the more versatile. Check out the video above for Abbott's full thoughts on the lens.

I have this lens pre ordered. I've watched all the reviews to get an idea of what I'm going to get. Abbot was the only one to really show the vinnetting of the lens. It's not as good as I want it to be. Although it's easily correctable and everything else seem to be good for the price.

If I was only going to do landscape with this lens, I would go with something else since the flairing is not that good in direct sun. A lens at this cost though can only be so good so I'm not too worried.
