A Review of the Yongnuo 35mm f/1.4 DF UWM Lens

Once known for making very affordable speedlights, Yongnuo also moved into the lens market a few years ago, producing similarly affordable optics. This excellent video review takes a look at the Yongnuo 35mm f/1.4 DF UWM lens.

Coming to you from Christopher Frost Photography, this great video review takes a look at the Yongnuo 35mm f/1.4 DF UWM lens. The 35mm f/1.4 features two aspherical elements for reduced distortions and spherical aberrations and improved sharpness, two low-dispersion elements for reduced chromatic aberrations and increased clarity, multi-layer coating for reduced flares and ghosting and increased contrast, Ultrasonic Wave Motor, seven-blade diaphragm, chrome-plated lens mount, gold-plated contacts, and a micro-USB port for firmware updates. Altogether, the Yongnuo looks like a very intriguing option for lots of shooters, offering a very popular and versatile focal length paired with a wide maximum aperture. What makes it especially interesting is the fact that it is so cheap compared to other options. Canon's EF 35mm f/1.4L II is a fantastic lens, but at $1,699, it is over four times the price of the Yongnuo, and even Sigma's 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art is almost twice the price. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts.
