While Canon is releasing mirrorless lenses at a near-breakneck pace, they're not the only company working on glass for the new platform. Samyang seems to be readying two popular lenses for the RF mount.
Samyang is most well known for their affordable manual focus lenses that offer a lot optical quality for the price. In particular, their 14mm f/2.8 lens is a highly popular choice for anyone wanting to try astrophotography. Canon Rumors is reporting that Samyang is prepping to release a 14mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.4 lens for the RF mount. It's not immediately clear if these will be new optical formulae or simply the same versions with the RF mount, but either way, it's great news for Canon shooters who were hoping for some budget options for the mirrorless platform. In addition, the extra focusing aids a mirrorless camera brings would make them easier to shoot than on their DSLR counterparts. As Canon continues to release new lenses for the RF mount and other manufacturers start to hop on board, the new system should hopefully fill out fairly quickly. Expect the new lenses fairly soon.
Samyang's not waiting around to see what sort of reception Canon's going to get long term for their R line. I'm pretty sure that they know there will be a market for some less expensive lenses.
If all they do is port the current lenses to the RF mount, that's low-hanging fruit.
Or you can use current lenses with an adapter. However, it would be interesting once 3rd party manufacturers start making AF lenses for Canon RF Mount.
