Sigma Will Soon Announce Five New Lenses, Including a 70-200mm f/2.8 Sports (Rumor)

Sigma shows no signs of slowing down. Now, it seems that the company will be announcing five new lenses ahead of Photokina, with some very interesting glass on the way.

Nokishita is reporting that Sigma has lenses on the way that will be announced before Photokina this year. The lenses include the following (remember that DG indicates a full frame lens, DC indicates APS-C, and DN indicates mirrorless):

  • 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art
  • 40mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art
  • 56mm f/1.4 DC DN
  • 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 OS HSM Sports
  • 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports

Sigma has had a 50-500mm lens for quite some time, but it was introduced long before the company rebranded and is definitely due for an update to their modern optical standards. I shoot with the 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports lens quite a bit, and it's by far one of my favorite lenses, so I'm quite excited to see the two zoom lenses in the works, and I'm sure the 70-200mm f/2.8 will be a particularly intriguing option for many photographers looking for an alternative to expensive first party options.

Head over to Nokishita to see images of all the upcoming lenses.

Nice, a 50-500mm "Bigma" replacement! Considering nothing in their Sports lineup is inexpensive, I wonder what it'll run. The original 50-500mm seemed to drop in image quality past 300mm, I wonder if they've made some improvements with this new version.

Sigma's 70-200mm f2.8 is definitely due for an update and I bet it'll be awesome, but the Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 G2 is SOOOOO good, has a long warranty, and is part of Tamron's educational pricing.

They better do it by Thursday! I have a week long assignment starting Sunday and I feel I need to upgrade from my Sigma 70-200 from 2010 as it doesn't work well with newer sensors.
I was thinking the Canon 70-200 iii but I really loved my sigma.
Hmmmmmm

it's good to see they still have something new for apsc user. the 56/1.4 looks good, if the price is good,it will be a killer lens

I sure wish Sigma would make a full frame 17-70 macro. I have the 17-70 C for cropped frame and it is one of my favorite lenses.

56/1.4 waiting despo for this lense...sigma is rising ..great

If they release the 70-200 f/2.8 in Sony E mount, I might finally be unloading the rest of my Canon glass for native lenses.

I was definitely hoping to see a new 70-200... I have one and it's super sharp but a new one may quiet down the lens stabilization... It makes video loud...

I think other lens company should start using arca style tripod collar like sigma did with their recent telephoto lenses

If the new 70-200 comes with e mount. I'll forget to buy the gm version next year
