Tamron Is Releasing a Ton of Lenses for Sony Cameras Soon

Tamron has been absolutely killing it with their highly lauded lenses for Sony's full frame cameras, the 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD and 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD. It seems the company is showing no signs of stopping, with an announcement of four brand new lenses on its way in October.

Tamron's two new lenses for Sony full frame cameras have been immensely popular and for good reason, as they offer excellent performance at extremely competitive prices. It seems the lineup will be soon expanding by quite a bit, as the company is teasing four new lenses, with an announcement coming in October. The four lenses are rumored to be a zoom lens to complete the so-called holy trinity, a 70-180mm f/2.8, while the other three are rumored to be three primes, a 20mm f/2.8, a 24mm f/2.8, and a 35mm f/2.8. There's a lot of great glass for Sony cameras as it is, but that being said, a lot of the lenses are on the pricey side, which is why Tamron's lenses have been such a hit. Rounding out the holy trinity of zoom lenses and adding a few popular primes should make a lot of Sony shooters quite happy. I know I'm certainly looking forward to October. Are you excited?

I’m surprised at the f2.8 apertures of the primes. Seems like they’re trying to compete with rokinon. That’s fine, but seems odd.

I’m excited for the 70-180 f2.8 tho. Going to be great!

I'd be a lot more interested in a 24/1.8, since nobody currently makes one. Samyang has already done the budget 24/2.8 and 35/2.8 thing.

I agree.

A 24mm 1.8 would probably sell really well since Sony's 24mm 1.4 has been on perpetual back order. Took 3 months to get mine.

If it's also cheaper but still optical good, It would be a win.

I agree with the comments before me. I look forward to the 70-180. If the performance and value match the other two zooms then I'm definitely buying. I hope they'll be available before the end of the year.

20, 24, 35 f/1.8 all under $600 would sell as well as the zooms. But f/2.8 is a deal breaker no matter how low they price it.

It'd be great if Tamron made some pro-grade supertelephoto lenses for Sony. This would fill the gaps in Sony's lineup. A 600mm f4, a 500mm f4, an 800mm f5.6, and a very long zoom like a 300-800mm f5.6 would all be very welcome by high-level wildlife photographers.
