What Is the Best 50mm Lens for Fujifilm Shooters?

With the introduction of the extreme XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR lens, Fujifilm fans now have three different choices at the 50mm focal length, each at varying prices and feature sets. This great video review takes a look at all three, the XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR, XF 50mm f/2 R WR, and the XF 56mm f/1.2 R.

Coming to you from Gordon Laing, this excellent video review compares the Fuji XF 50mm f/1.0 R WRXF 50mm f/2 R WR, and the XF 56mm f/1.2 R lenses (if you want to read more about the 50mm f/1, be sure to check out Dylan Goldby's excellent review). At $499, $999, and $1,499, there is an option at every price point with different strengths and weaknesses. Until a few months ago, the 56mm f/1.2 was the superlative choice, particularly for portrait shooters, but of course, the 50mm f/1 offers another half-stop of low-light and narrow depth of field performance. On the other hand, with such large glass elements, you will likely experience somewhat slower autofocus performance, plus the 50mm f/1 is far heavier and less portable than the other two options. A lot of it comes down to your specific needs. Check out the video above for Laing's full thoughts on all three lenses.
