What Is the OM SYSTEM?
If you don’t know, the OM Digital Solutions Corporation is the company that took over the Olympus brand of cameras and their M.Zuiko lenses two years ago. They rebranded it to the OM SYSTEM, and it showcases high-end Micro Four Thirds cameras, as well as its series of Tough, waterproof, compact cameras such as the Tough TG-7 released last month.
After being split from Olympus Corporation in 2021, OM Digital Solutions was newly formed to infuse its imaging heritage of 85 years – including its technologies, products, services, and brand legacy – into a new agile company, unleashing the full potential of its business.
Whereas the old Olympus brand was struggling, since its launch, the new business has streamlined its operations, invested in a new Technology Center to develop new products, and released four cameras, including the OM-1 and OM-5 cameras, as well as a handful of new lenses to add to the already wide selection in the system.
The other good news from them is that the manufacturing of the lenses has caught up with the unprecedented demand that resulted from the release of the OM-1. Now. stocks of the OM System M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25X IS PRO lens that I reviewed recently, and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm F3.5 Macro IS PRO, which I will review soon, are available.
