. . . To the Left

This is a shot that I've been working at on and off for a few months now, trying to get the processing right. I took this while covering a local play and was drawn to the picture by the soft glow of the sign in the dark theater. The original had a large swath of the image taken up by ceiling tile illuminated a pale red colour by the subject, which I've left a hint of in the version here. I tried to go for a very minimalistic approach in this image, which is something that I've long had issues achieving properly. I guess my general question here is, "How does this image fit with what you know as minimalist photography?"

Hi Matthew, with such a distinct subject and without distracting elements throughout what is the majority of the image area I would indeed classify this a minimal.
This is always open to interpretation of course, but for me in this case it is pretty clear.
