Yesterday I found an old SD card that had been unused since January of 2020. I went through the photos and looked to see if there were any I could give new life. These are a few that I think could fit under the focus of our group, and I hoped that giving a variety might rekindle some discussion here. Feel free to critique any of the photos, to select likes and dislikes, and otherwise comment on the post.
I hop that everyone is having a great Christmas Season.
Happy merry to you also, Matthew.
Hi Matthew, I often find it worth going through old shots with a more current set of eyes. Sometimes a simple tweak in crop or processing can make all the difference.
These shots do show your creativity so well done on that point. By your description I suspect that these are shots that do not meet your own high standards, which is fine. It really doesn't matter what others think, you should instead be asking what might you change next time to match your own expectations.
For what it is worth I think #1 is a good capture, but the subject itself lacks interest (unless perhaps you are into drones or aiming at selling to an enthusiast).
I quite like #2, but might crop slightly from bottom & left to see if that adds more balance (and try in B&W).
#3 has graphical interest. I wonder what it would look like taken from a different angle, playing the black fitting against the striations in the glass.
#4 has potential. I would try cropping from the right to remove the blue and then clean up all the reflections (consider using a polarizer next time?)
I do like your willingness to experiment in #5 but am unable to offer anything that may be helpful otherwise.
Just some quick thoughts so you have another reference point - as always it is only your own opinion that really matters.
