Hi everybody,
Just wanted to get some feedback regarding a sunset photo taken while in Venice. The image was taken on a water taxi and I do primarily shoot landscape images. any information to help improve this image would greatly be appreciated. I didn't want to over edit the image and wanted to keep it as natural as possible while accentuating some of the hues/colours that were present.
Hi, there. I`ve never been to Venice, so I don`t know the possibilities and limitations to take good photos there.
Regarding what could have been better at the time of taking the photo, I feel it lacks a focal point to emphasize the depth of the water canal, guide the viewer's attention. The post in the middle of the photo would be one, but it is somewhat far away. The boats at the right side area are a little confusing. I would have chosen a good foreground and a clear subject. Of course, it is not that easy when you are shooting from a boat.
Regarding postprocessing, I think the light is rather flat. You could try to apply some dodge and burning to create volume and interest in the photo. Dont touch the colors in the sky, you could apply a denoise filter there.
Hope it helps.
