Simplicity

This was actually one of the first images taken as a test shot during this session which I loved and decided to further process. My work is inspired by Renaissance old master paintings so my soft lighting will reflect that look. Camera: Nikon D750, 85mm @ f/2.8, 1/160, ISO 125. Backdrop is from Kate Backdrops. Post processing using ACR and Photoshop. Lighting: Xplor AD600 in 60" octa camera left, white reflector camera right.

Well it works because I was instantly thinking of the Dutch masters. Rembrandt lighting, Vermeer (pearl earing) - the clean lines, soft lighting and simplicity are delightful.

In a way it doesn't even look like a photo, reminds me of Verspronck. It's gorgeous, amazing lighting and post processing.

I really love the composition, lighting and overall look of the subject and what you have is unquestionably a beautiful image which if I had shot it I would have been delighted.
However......and this is just personal preference, I feel it’s possibly just a bit overworked especially the face, the most important part of any portrait.
At the moment there appears to be a fashion for almost squeezing the humanity out of images by removing any imperfection. I’m not saying you have gone that far but it’s possibly something to think about. Compare it with the original shot....

The ambiguity between painting and photo works wonders! Very vivid yet very classical

I love everything about it except the overcooked skin, and the blown out eyes. IMO, you pushed it too much, I'd pull back the eyes and get some texture back into the skin. But that's just me. The pallet is gorgeous.

Love it. Not only do I see the influence of the Dutch painters, but I am reminded of some of the hand-tinted phots from the 30's, 40's
