Just when you think you've seen it all, Skittles comes out with a new ad like this. Skittles has always done some weird commercials but this one is definitely on the top of the list, especially with mothers day right around the corner. I personally do not see how this is a way to advertise Skittles, but hey... who am I to talk? At least the audio is nice and crisp!
I'm wondering if they did this just because they can or because there is actually some sort of meaning behind it. If that is the case, what is that meaning? I feel like in the commercial world, this type of ad would stand out because of how different and odd it is compared to other advertisements out there. This seems to be a clear example of something that we remember just because of how strange it is. That being said, there doesn't really need to be a point to the commercial, the weirdness speaks for itself. I am not surprised Skittles took it to this level, I just find it interesting that someone thought this up and decided to go ahead and make a production with that idea. What are your thoughts? Funny? Weird? Stupid? Too much?
Brands love getting their name in front of as many people as possible, especially if they don't have to pay for the exposure. And viola! Here we are. Guess it worked for this brand.
Exactly! The ad execs who came up with this ads' theme (which is very similar to a theme they've been doing for YEARS) are playing into the hand of the internet spreading uncomfortable or controversial promotions for years. The more blogs and media outlets "talk" about such trivial subjects, the more they will keep pushing the limits. Just look at our current state of affairs in the US government.
A little funny. A lot weird. Definitely stupid. Other's have beat them to too much.
My favorite commercial of all time is a Skittles commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HEF49nMsM8
Weird, very weird.
I like weird and creative work. But now everyone afraid to be: Racist, sexists, untolerant and other bull poop. I really miss 2000s. Freedom of speech is a forgotten dream now.
I hope that I don't see this commercial. Oh, wait! I just did. At least I have Tivo so I can skip past the commercials.
