3 Skills That Will Improve Your Landscape Photography

Landscape photography takes numerous skills all coming together at once to create successful images. We talk a lot about various camera techniques and post-processing methods, but there are other skills you need to have beyond what you do with your camera and computer, and this fantastic video tutorial discusses three of them that can improve your work in the long run.

Coming to you from Mads Peter Iversen, this awesome video tutorial discusses three skills that every landscape photographer needs that go beyond how you handle your camera or process your files. Of the three, one that I think is particularly important is having good knowledge of the weather. This does not mean you need to go off and earn a degree in meteorology; just having a working understanding of the basics will pay dividends. Since we do not get control of the light in landscape photography, understanding what to expect from the sky is crucial to the preconception of a successful shot. Beyond that, though, being able to know when the sky will give you beautiful clouds or when some ethereal fog will be rolling in can help you expand your creativity and know just when to head out for the type of image you are looking for. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Iversen.
