5 Helpful Tips for Taking Better Landscape Photos

Landscape photography can be a tricky genre, with a lot of necessary technical knowledge needed to bring your creative vision to fruition. If you have been struggling or you are new to landscape photography, check out this great video tutorial that will offer you five helpful tips for improving your work.

One simple thing that helped me significantly improve my work has been simply to leave my wide angle in the bag more often. There is, of course, nothing wrong with using a wide angle lens; in fact, they tend to be the bread and butter choice of a lot of landscape photographers, but I found myself defaulting to simply smashing as much of the scene into the frame as possible every time. Using longer focal lengths forced me to pick out only the most important elements and create more abstract compositions. It's a great way to change pace from a more standard approach.
