One that I think is really worth considering is the idea that you can't make great photos in harsh midday sun. We often talk a lot about the golden hour in landscape photography, and undoubtedly, that is a time during which you can make worthwhile images. That being said, you can absolutely create great photos at midday; the key is working with what the light is giving you instead of trying to shoot images that the light is not conducive to. Midday sun can be great for working with dramatic interplay between light and shadow and bringing out strong contrasts and textures. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
