When it comes to landscape photography, there are a few names that will be recognizable to many almost instantly. One of those is Michael Shainblum. His calm, considered, and purposeful approach makes his shots stand out in my opinion. However, what happens when you take him out of the familiar landscape and put him in the middle of one of the busiest locations in the world?
In this video from Michael Shainblum, he takes us along on a POV-style vlog and shows not only how he approaches a scene but also how he finds the difference in the same. From images of reflecting light in pools of water to using metal grids on the sidewalk to act as a mirror, Michael shows us that with a creative eye, many images can be bagged from a trip.
Throw into the mix some stunning timelapses, long exposures, and different views of the famous skyline, and you have a view that will transport you into the middle of New York for a visual feast of images, some of which I am sure you won’t have seen before and may act as a catalyst to elevate your own photography too.
The images that Michael captured during this outing are different from images I have seen before, and it goes to show that you can find something unique in a location that has been photographed by millions and still call them your own.
