One of the hardest challenges of landscape photography is that you get no control over the placement of the elements in the scene, which makes composition a particularly nuanced and tricky skill to get down. Nonetheless, while understanding things like post-processing and camera settings and the like is important, artistic treatment of composition and light are what take a snapshot and turn it into a way of looking at the world that the non-photographer would never have imagined.
