How to Make On-Camera Flash Look Natural

Photographers generally avoid on-camera flash whenever they can, but there are situations in which you will not have another option. For those situations, there are certain things you can do to make the light look more natural, and this helpful video tutorial will show you what they are.

Coming to you from Ashley Boring with Westcott Lighting, this great video tutorial will show you how to make your on-camera flash look more natural. Any professional will tell you that if you want to improve the look of your portraits, the first thing you need to do is get the flash off your camera, and while that is certainly great advice, it just is not always an option. For example, wedding photographers frequently work with on-camera flash simply because of the environment and demands of the job, but they will often employ the techniques you see in the video to create more flattering results despite the limitations of the method. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Boring.

These were all good tips, but that bounced shot was stunning. Sometimes you find yourself without the gear you "need", and it's great to see you can make do with the basics when needed.
