The Segovia Aqueduct is an aqueduct that carried water to the Spanish city of Segovia until 1973. Its construction dates back to the early 2nd century AD, at the end of the reign of Emperor Trajan or the beginning of Hadrian, during the Roman Empire. The most visible, and therefore famous, part is the archway that crosses the Plaza del Azoguejo.
In 1884, it was declared a national monument, and is therefore a Site of Cultural Interest with the category of Monument. In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site along with the old city.
