I keep a watchful eye out for forecasts at this location. Finding the right combination of wind and sky is like winning the lottery. This lake is a little more than 2 hours from me and on this particular morning I made the journey just for the sunrise. Hyde county is rural north east North Carolina. Here you will find dark skies at night and vast open landscapes sitting behind North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Agriculture and commercial fishing are what keeps this place alive. I have to keep my trips close by right now due to caring for a family member. This is a place that I love and I feel lucky to have it within reach. Lake Mattamuskeet, NC
