Light Passing Through Shadow (Marine in Contre-jour)

90mm · f/8.0 · 1.3 sec · ISO 100

The combination of different intentional camera movements captured in-camera within a single frame, together with the right position in relation to light, creates curious effects.

The challenge is balance: push too far into painterly territory and you risk losing what makes a photograph feel photographic (its medium-specific qualities). But is that necessarily a loss? In metaphotography, the camera gesture itself defines the medium, so even abstraction stays photographic.
