Bogue Inlet Blue Hour

Apparently I took this in 2020. I don't know why I haven't included it in my portfolio before now. I go back to this pier every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I have so many shots of this pier that I think some good ones get overlooked sometimes

Photographed during the transitionf rom sunset into blue hour, this image captures the Bogue Inlet Pier in Emerald Isle, North Carolina as light slowly gives way to night. I used a longer exposure to soften the motion of the Atlantic while keeping the structure of the pier sharp, emphasizing the contrast between movement and stillness.

The warm glow of the pier lights against the cool tones of the evening sky was the moment I was waiting for - brief, quite, and easy to miss.

This image is part of an ongoing body of work focused on coastal structures and the subtle transitions that happen when day fades to night.
