Ancient Course, A River Older than the Mountains.

The New River, despite its name, is the oldest river in North America and one of the oldest in the world. Many theories suggest the river was already flowing before the Blue Ridge Mountains rose. And as the Blue Ridge Mountains are slowly receding the river keeps flowing.
