The Roanoke River Lighthouse in Edenton, North Carolina sits perfectly framed by a live oak on the Chowan River where it meets the Albemarle Sound.
We always stop in Edenton for a couple hours on our way back to North Carolina from vacation in Brant Lake, New York. This year I decided to unchain myself from my tripod for a change. Walking around Edenton with my Tamron 70-180 attached to my Sony a7r4, I experimented with different compositions of the lighthouse. I think this is my favorite photo from my entire vacation this year.
As a landscape and architectural photographer I'm almost always on a tripod. I forgot how much freedom and how liberating it is to unshackle from the tripod and go hand held. It's something I gotta start doing more often.
