"Please give wildlife some space"

Unfortunately we are not able to control what they do. Sometimes they walk out too close for comfort for me, even if I am making noise. Please remember my photos looks a lot closer than they actually are.

I've been seeing more and more black bear videos online lately and that does not surprise me. Black bear populations are on the rise, which makes education more important than ever. The good news is that people and black bears can peacefully coexist when we understand them better.

The most important thing to know about black bears is that they are motivated by food. That's why it's so important never to feed them. If you live in bear country, secure your trash, remove bird feeders when bears are active, and don't leave pet food outside.

When bears begin associating people with food, they can become habituated to humans. That's when conflicts happen—and unfortunately, it's often the bears that pay the price.

Black bears aren't the scary monsters they're sometimes made out to be. They're intelligent, shy, and usually want nothing to do with us. They're wild animals, and the best thing we can do for them is to respect their space and help keep them wild. That's how both bears and people continue to thrive together.
