Around me a world in continuous motion. Conflicts rage, whether based on fiery political disagreements or actual warfare where men, women and children by the millions are forced out of their homes and struggle to survive one more day. What can I do in a world that all around me seems to have chosen to embrace madness?
A zen proverb says "Let go or be dragged." I can let go and refuse to be dragged into the vortex of ignorance. I can think. I can embrace my fellow human being and strive not to judge. I can be there for the fallen and break bread with my neighbor or friend. I can choose to be a light in shadow. I can project something from inside that nobody but me can control..calm. I can be an island surrounded by a violent ocean and perhaps someone lost will find my shores. I can choose to be...still.
