The Musketeer

50mm · f/6.3 · 1/250s · ISO 160

This shot of my husband inspired by the Dutch Masters took three days to create. On the first day I set up and tested my lighting. On the second day we shot, but I was unhappy with the results, so we went back to the studio on day 3. This was the final result lit with a beauty dish camera right with a foam core flag to create the narrowed light area on the face and a background light behind.

Frans Hals, eat your heart out! Good job, Emily.

This type of lighting is all about good light composition skills. And yours are really superb!!!
