Capture One 22 Brings New Features and Faster Speeds

Capture One has become the image-editing software of choice for a ton of professionals. Not only does it have some of the best color-editing abilities of any software, but it is also one of the best when it comes to speed and performance. But with Capture One 22, things just got even better.

In this latest major release, Capture One has brought us five major improvements over Capture One 21. The first is the ability to now combine and stitch panorama images without relying on outside software. Not only will you be able to combine images in a traditional horizontal fashion, but you will also be able to combine them in a vertical orientation as well as multidirectional. The multi-direction option unlocks the ability to produce much higher-resolution images as well as what is known as the "Brenizer Method."

Another new feature that will make almost any landscape and real estate photographer excited is the addition of the HDR feature. Similar to the panorama feature, this will give users the ability to merge and edit HDR images from within Capture One 22 with no need for outside software. For those that are unfamiliar, HDR merging is the processing of combining multiple images at various exposure levels to achieve a higher dynamic range. This gives you more detail in the shadows and highlights.

Another new feature is wireless tethering. This will give users the ability to show images on a computer as they take them without the need to pause and upload the images from the camera. And because it's wireless, you won't need to be bound to your computer by long cables.

Once your images are within Capture One, you will now be able to use a new auto-rotate feature. This new ability will essentially look at your images and figure out how to rotate them to give you a level horizon. But, it does not do this in a simple fashion. instead, it relies on a form of AI so that it can intelligently gather data about the image and rotate based on the findings.

Lastly, and one I'm super excited about, is faster loading, filtering, and browsing of image files for Windows users. While I believe Capture One is significantly faster and more usable than the competition, I'm always excited about the faster performance.

If you are using Capture One 2, it's been a while since you have tried Capture One, or you want to see what all the fuss is about, it's easy to see with this 30-day free trial of Capture One 22.
