Making A Pinhole Camera Out Of An Egg!This isn't exactly new news but I mentioned this to some fellow shooters and got blank stares in return. So in case you also haven't seen this yet, check out Francescco's images that he made by turning an egg shell into a pinhole camera. He uses the inside of the shell as the developing surface and gives you very detailed instructions on how to make your very own "Pinhegg". |

How Much Longer Can Film Hold On?"At the turn of the 21st century, American shutterbugs were buying close to a billion rolls of film per year. This year, they might buy a mere 20 million..." "Equally startling has been the plunge in film camera sales over the last decade. Domestic purchases have tumbled from 19.7 million cameras in 2000 to 280,000 in 2009 and might dip below 100,000 this year..."
With numbers like that, how much longer can we expect big businesses to stay invested in film? Digital sensors and processing have already become the norm in professional circles for their affordability and flexibility and they only continue to improve. Will small niche companies be the only provider of film in the near future? Or will it simply...... fade away?

Those mugshots are amazing! I wish today's felons were that classy looking :)
I know. Those shots are cool as $#!^.

Very funny Lee,
1. In order to save some money, Police departments are only shooting 1 mug shot.2. Neither Rain, Nor Sleet, Nor gloom of night or a Car traveling at 100mph will stop a photographer from getting his picture.
Good stuff here, although i've seen the mugshots before but it was nice to see them again.
Regarding the life of film, i've read many articles and so far it seems like film isn't going anywhere anything soon. Personally I have started shooting landscapes with a 4x5 large format camera and with even a decent scan the quality is outstanding. If/when the day comes that the average consumer can purchase a digital medium format, 4x5, or 8x10 camera then film might really die. Until then I will enjoy shooting film and digital, getting the best of both worlds. Because personally I consider them two completely separate worlds.
Ya, it's pretty much a guarantee that everyone who reads the newsletter will find 1 or 2 things in it that they have seen before. That's why I do at least 7. :)
I totally agreed with you about film and digital being different worlds and that they are both great, but my concern is about film loosing its profitability and having the big companies just drop it. A scary prospect for some of us.
