Lost Signed Copy of Gregory Heisler's 50 Portraits

Lost Signed Copy of Gregory Heisler's 50 Portraits

Two nights ago we threw another successful Fstoppers party in NYC for the wrap up of Photo Plus. After hauling out all the remaining booze, breaking down the "Terry Richardson Photobooth," and sweeping up a million glow sticks, we saw a heavy bag full of goodies. What we found was a brand new copy of Gregory Heisler's 50 Portraits....and it was signed by the man himself!

Now I must be honest here and say I was pretty excited that someone had accidentally left behind a book I was planning on picking up myself. I met Gregory Heisler out at Gulf Photo Plus earlier in the year, and his amazing photography workshop was only eclipsed by his hilarious and unpretentious personality. If you get a chance to attend one of his workshops or hang out with him in Dubai you will immediately know what I'm talking about.

When I sat down to start reading the book I noticed something interesting on the first page: "To Daniel with best wishes - Gregory Heisler 10-26-2013"

Immediately my heart sank. What I was holding in my hands wasn't just a new copy of Greg's new book on photography; I was holding an amazing memory any photographer would cherish for the rest of their career. Luckily though this book wasn't left on the expo floor of Photo Plus where it could have been picked up by any one of the thousands of people in attendance. Instead it was left at our Fstoppers party, safe and sound until the end of the night.

So my hope is we can return this once in a life time memory back to Daniel, and add an even more interesting finale to an already amazing story. So if you are Daniel, send us an email with your address along with the goofiest photo of you from our photobooth and we will be happy to reunite you with a killer book written by one of the best of the best. Cheers

well *cough* that must be mine WHOOPS.

I hope the book finds it's way home. shout out to the other Daniel though! haha

It is great that you're doing this. Sometimes people find something and think it's theirs, but
that's not always true. If you can contact the owner, or may be able to find the owner with reasonable effort, keeping it without doing so isn't "finders-keepers." It's stealing.

Honestly we would have just kept it being that it's "just a book" but then we noticed the signature and realized it was a big deal.

I swear I saw someone with that book on Fri at JG's studio for Karaoke but I don't know the person. I remembered because I looked at the same book on Fri at the expo. I'm sure he was a young guy though mid to late 20's maybe?

It was signed from Saturday though so it wouldn't be that guy. Chances are he bought it right where Greg signed it. Hate I missed you at Jason's party; good times1

So since you have it and you haven't found the owner....you gonna read it? Cause I would at least read it if I found it. Even if I did give it back.

A few years ago I left a $90 photo book signed to me by Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics fame) on a bus in the middle of the night. Because of the route I was able to track down the bus an hour or so later. Luckily, the driver had it and I was relieved. I hope Daniel makes his way back to you.

I hope you find the rightful owner. I would be bummed but I would of kept a tighter grip on my bag.
