In an ironic turn of events, one man’s attempt to block coverage of a protest has had the opposite effect, after a photo of him covering a photographer’s lens went viral.
Associated Press (AP) photographer Evan Vucci, who has been covering President Trump’s rallies since 2016, was the one responsible for capturing the moment, which occurred in Evansville, Indiana. Having covered many rallies, Vucci told Time this incident wasn’t a frequent sight:
We’re all just trying to do our job, which is to be fair and accurately document the President. When someone impedes you from doing your job, that’s something to be upset about.
Pictured in Vucci’s image is Reuters photojournalist Kevin Lamarque attempting to capture the moment Trump supporters spotted a protestor. That was when Nick Barbknecht, the campaign volunteer, reached out and used his hand to cover Lamarque’s lens. The effort was in vain, as not only did Lamarque end up getting a usable photo, but the incident has since made for a viral news story, appearing in Time, Huffington Post, Independent, and many other outlets.
Vucci says everyone was “happy [the moment] was captured.” Lamarque is quoted as saying that Barbknecht later apologized for his actions.
See how the hand-covered photo came out over at Time.

Trump should have "Herded" all the photographers and reporters with ropes ala Hillary

LOL.
Like Trump does at his Ego Rallies where the media is limited to media location.
Can we weed out obvious troll accounts such as these from Fstoppers please, moderators?
Sorry Tim - it seems as though the comment I replied to has in fact been deleted. My comment wasn't meant for you. Apologies there for any confusion.
This story is old news, having hit the news circuits last week, but still comedy gold in that one photo.
This is wrong for sure, and he deserves criticism. Meanwhile, Antifa thugs were busy beating NBC news crew, and even NBC ignored it. According to some, they are fighting Nazis?! https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2018/08/12/nbc-i...
On a side note can someone get photographer Vlad Tchompalov(lead photo) a copy of "Best Business Practices for Photographers" by John Harrington or Monte's DVD. The Unsplash model is equally bad for photographers who are trying to make a living by competing against "free" photos.
This is old news, and not a big deal, I know Fstoppers you have a right to publish this old news. Please stay on message and stay away from trash news. You are better than this.
