What the Heck Is the WeeklyFstop Photo Theme and Why Should I Care?

What the Heck Is the WeeklyFstop Photo Theme and Why Should I Care?

As some of you may or may not know, there has been a weekly photo theme running here on Fstoppers called the weeklyFstop. It is very easy to join in and the themes change from week to week so everyone's strengths and weaknesses get a turn. This week the theme is "favorite" which should cater well to all genres and skill sets. The real beauty is that you don't need a large following to join in. A number of our featured photographers haven't even passed 100 followers. This fact, one might argue, makes our list one of the most unique around. We'd love to have you join in and show us your favorite thing to capture.

Many of us cannot keep up with the dedication and planning it takes to grow a large social media following from scratch. Many of us, busy with the other wonderful things life has to offer, just want to post a photo and maybe receive a few likes for it. I cannot say I disagree. While having 20,000 followers sounds good on paper, I'm not sure I would want to constant notifications that would come with it.

For those of you who have never tried a weekly photo theme, the concept is simple. Every week you come here to find out what the theme is. Then you either take a new photo or find an old photo that fits the theme well. You then enter it by simply using the hashtag #weeklyFstopFavorite (or whatever the current hashtag is) on any public Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Flickr post between now and our next weeklyFstop article.

Let us take a look at our winners so far. I think you'll agree it is a pretty impressive showing of talent.

this is a great opportunity for good photographers to get some visibility. I think it's a matter of time before more and more people join this challenge.
It has just started so have a little patience michael. you'll get this to the point that you'll feel flooded by images! ;)

Keep it up!

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement Pedro!

ps. if these winner entries would compete to an overall winner, i'd give the win to picture nr 4 ! Documental work has always attracted me and this one is just perfectly balanced with subject, feeling and light working very well together! For it to be perfect i'd just like to see a different expression on the guy on the top right corner!

I love that shot too. I think I will do a top ten on the year once we get there. Good idea.

I don't see it mentioned where you can find out what is the current (or upcoming) theme.

Timothy, have a look at the posts on fstoppers. every week michael announces the top 10 selection of the previous week and in the same post, he let's everybody know what the next challenge is.

Hi Timothy, this week the theme is "favorite" which should cater well to all genres and skill sets. And the hashtag to put is #weeklyFstopFavorite.
Good Luck

This is so great! I'm so excited to join!

That’s great to hear!
