When it comes to data recovery software, there are plenty of options currently on the market. In my experience it's been super useful to have a recovery software on hand because I have had SD cards fail on me. The issue is that many available options tend not to do a great job at recovering video. Wondershare might have the answer with its latest update.
Recovering video files can be a tricky ordeal for a number of reasons. The main issue is that once a video file is recovered the fragments that make up the video can be incorrectly merged. This essentially means that the file becomes pretty useless and unplayable. Wondershare Recoverit has recently updated its software to now better recover videos to avoid this issue.
As someone who produces video content regularly, this is actually quite a useful thing for me and I'm sure for many other content creators too. I've personally had experience of video files not being recovered correctly and for that reason this is genuinely something I'm happy about.
The latest DR85 update can support a great number of different video file formats. These include MP4, MOV, and MKV meaning that the vast majority of video files can be recovered effectively.
Once you have the latest update, you'll find the new features under the Advanced Recovery section on the main dashboard. After you've finished recovering any data, if you find that your video files aren't playing correctly or have been corrupted, you can use the Video Repair tool.
The latest DR85 update adds a new feature of advanced video recovery which utilizes the patented technology to merge and recover fragmented video files. The reason why many video files can’t be recovered is because when videos files are deleted or formatted, the video fragmentation happens, thus making it hard to get lost files.
There are two modes of video recovery for the DR85 new update including standard video recovery and advanced video recovery. If you can’t find your deleted video files, find that the video files aren’t playing correctly, or have been corrupted, then you can try to use the advanced video recovery which is able to merge the video files and recover videos successfully.
Another new feature for the DR85 is its video repair update. If your video files are corrupted or damaged, you should use its video repair instead of trying to recover the video files. The new update can repair video files including MP4, MOV, AVI, M4V and more meaning that the vast majority of video files can be recovered effectively.
Simply select the Video Repair option and click on the Start button. A second page will appear and the process is straight forward. Add the corrupted video file that you'd like to fix into the software and then select repair.
The thing that I think is really useful is the fact that you can preview any of your files before you go through the whole repair process. The software will be able to show you what the video will look like once the repairing process is completed. This obviously helps prevent you from spending time trying to recover something, only to find that it's not going to work. You can also add multiple videos at a time if you're planning on performing any batch repairs.
The latest update has also added an advanced recovery mode which includes a better filter system too. If there's only a certain file type you'd like to recover, such as MP4, then you can use the filter system to search for only those files. You can also filter and search for files based on their size too which I think is probably going to be more useful. This can help save a great deal of time and prevent the need to recover everything from your storage devices just to try and get back a few files.
What I Like
- Intuitive software
- Extremely easy to use; it's pretty self explanatory
- Price is very reasonable.
What Could Be Improved
- The preview features can be a little finicky at times.
- Although the price is reasonable, the monthly subscription price doesn't make sense considering what it costs for a lifetime license.
You can get 30% off Recoverit windows or 30% off for mac now to recover or repair your video files . Personally I'd say the lifetime license is probably a much better deal considering the fact that it only cost $10 more than the yearly subscription. You can also trial the software and recover up to 100mb completely free.
