South Park is a show that comes off as harsh. With their crude and direct sense of humor, it was just a matter of time before they attacked the world of retouching and post production. In a recent episode, they decided to poke fun at the concept of Photoshop and manipulation.
This is deemed not safe for work due to the language. The episode itself is about the pressure young women face to look like celebrities. Although this was meant to be funny, it's true that many young women today are continually faced with pressure from the media to look a particular way. In the process, they decided to include this bit about Photoshop and retouching. Although this is just a clip, you can also find the full episode here.
awesome!
...and after you watch the video don't forget to sign up for Bikini Swim Photography with Dixie Dixson! The irony.
Doesn't look like they did much manipulating... She looks awful. Get her a steak.
LOL. I hate doing these kind of extensive touch-ups. The end product is
totally fake, and not a photograph anymore - it's an illustration of
ones own perception of perfection. Imperfections are what gives us
character, without them we are just "plastic".
I always hear the people talk about the pressure on women to look a certain way, then I go to the mall and the average weight of the women walking around is about 200-ish.
I don't think the pressure is working.
South Park is genius
" The episode itself is about the pressure young women face to look like celebrities." You didn't watch the episode apparently. Their point was EVERYONE does this, ESPECIALLY celebrities. Not even celebrities look like celebrities. It's not how real humans look and impossible for even the people who are supposed to be the most beautiful in the world. This is the image we are sending little girls. This is the point of South Park.
Pretty funny that the google ad that popped up in the video was for Portrait Professional lol!
