M42, the Orion Nebula, is a beautiful deep-sky object. The colours and wonderful shapes within the nebula are superb.
Tonight I was invited to a meet-up with some folks from the Facebook group "Australian Amateur Astrophotography". The group admin, Dave Nelson, brought along his Celestron telescope that’s fitted with a tracking mount and a 100-400mm Canon camera lens. Dave was generous in giving up any shooting time of his own to let those with Canon cameras attach them to his lens and shoot away. M42 was an object I’d hoped we would get to shoot and I’m so happy that it was on Dave’s list, too.
