My neighbour was keen to commemorate the fennel plant in her garden, which had come into bloom for the first time in 10 years.
We arranged a portrait shoot to accompany images of the plant, however I'd planned the lighting for the portraits specifically, and didn't want to be distracted while shooting those, so chose to shoot the plant itself separately.
I shot this image on my way back from a run on the morning of our planned portrait shoot. The light was perfect, and picked out elements of the plant beautifully.
As the portraits and still life images were shot at different times in the day, I graded them all as a set to give a consistency in tone.
